Maple Mountain residency funding uncertain; committee asks AHS and JFO to vet matchability and report

Committee members said they could not resolve the question in the limited time available and asked the Agency of Human Services (AHS) to explore matchability and to return with a plan.
Committee staff and members said they would ask the Joint Fiscal Office to place the issue on a future agenda; the joint fiscal office will review the plan at its September meeting so the committee can consider a budget adjustment or other options afterward. The committee discussed language that would require a report back and contemplated triggers so money would only be appropriated if the matchability and other conditions were confirmed.
Members said they remain supportive of the program in principle but declined to commit multi‑year funds without the additional vetting. The committee asked staff to coordinate with stakeholders, including local councils and advocates, and to circulate proposed bill language for morning review.
