Brian Bliss, chief appraiser for the Glynn County Property Appraisal Office, told the board that 29 applicants were denied new homestead status and that those applicants “will have a recourse during the 45 day window to file an appeal to discuss the merits of it.” Bliss said the 45‑day filing window stems from House Bill 92, which the office said became law April 1.
The approvals and denials presented to the board will be incorporated into the 2025 digest after the board’s vote. Bliss said the list before the board does not represent the complete set of homestead entries for the digest because the new filing window allows taxpayers to file additional applications before the digest is closed.
Board members voted by voice to approve the presented approvals and denials for the 2025 digest. No roll call tally was recorded in the transcript.
Bliss also provided a snapshot count for the digest, saying staff expects roughly 1,300 approvals for the 2025 digest. He advised the board that taxpayers who receive denials can file appeals within the statutory 45‑day period arising from House Bill 92.
The board’s action was procedural: the board approved the item so staff can finalize entries for the digest and document the vote.
