Tooele City Council approved a resolution tentatively adopting the Redevelopment Agency (RDA) budget for fiscal year 2025-26 and set a public hearing for the second meeting in June.
The action came at the Tooele City Council business meeting on May 7, 2025, after Sharon Wimmer, Tooele City finance director, presented the RDA budget and described key constraints facing the agency.
Wimmer told the council the RDA has "officially sunset," and that "this will be the first year that you won't have tax increment coming into the RDA." She said the city still has five years to complete projects and goals for the RDA project area. "I'm happy to answer any questions," Wimmer added as she presented the budget, which appears in the council—ooks under fund 75.
A council member moved to approve Resolution 2025-01, the resolution tentatively adopting the RDA budget for FY2025-26 and establishing the timeline and place for a public hearing; another council member seconded. The council recorded five affirmative votes by Councilwoman Mazione, Councilwoman Coaches, Councilman Brady, Councilman Hanson and Councilwoman McCall; the motion passed unanimously (5-0).
Council members also approved the minutes from the Feb. 5 business meeting by unanimous vote during the same session. The meeting then adjourned.
Under the resolution, the council will consider a final adoption after the scheduled public hearing. During the presentation Wimmer said staff worked with the RDA chair to prepare the budget and that councilmembers would have further opportunity to review and discuss the fund before final action.
No public comments or substantive amendments to the tentative budget were recorded in the transcript for this item.
