The council approved an agreement with American Ramp Company to design the Boulevard bike park (roughly 5.2 acres) on capped reclamation property; city aims to complete design by October to apply for a Utah recreation grant.
Tooele City Council approved a design agreement with American Ramp Company on May 7 to engineer and design a Boulevard bike park on previously reclaimed city property near 700 West and 700 North.
Parks Director Darvin Cook said the site contains shallow capped foundations that preclude deep foundations and make the location better suited to above-grade pump-track and skill-course features. Cook said the site area is roughly 5.2 acres and can accommodate a pump track, skills area for younger riders and supporting amenities such as parking and restrooms.
Cook said the city intends to finish design work by October so it can apply for a Utah State recreation grant that requires an approved design. The city also plans restrooms, parking and tree planting in center islands; pump-track surfaces are poured-in-place asphalt-like material the contractor installs by hand.
Council voted 5-0 to approve the agreement; Cook said the design work will position the city to seek grant funding and complete construction in future budget cycles.
