Tooele City Council approved a contract with Speakman's Concrete Service LLC to repair foundation and apron areas at the City Fleet building during the May 7 meeting.
Public Works Director Jamie Grandpre said freeze-thaw cycles, salt and other weathering have damaged portions of the fleet building foundation and adjoining aprons. The city received multiple bids and found one bidder non-responsive; the responsive bid from Speakman's was discussed at $158,187.65 in the meeting packet. Staff referenced a contingency figure during the discussion but later acknowledged the contingency language did not appear in the resolution before the council.
Council voted 5-0 to approve the agreement. Grandpre said the work is intended to stabilize the building and extend its useful life.
