Vice Chairman John Fanning read the proclamation for National Correctional Officers Week, citing the federal proclamation’s recognition of correctional employees’ duties and hazards and naming the county’s Adult Detention Center staff for public tribute. The board then read and adopted a proclamation for National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day, asking citizens and organizations to observe May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and to commemorate officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty.
Supervisors praised local law enforcement leadership and announced participation in related ceremonies; the proclamations were approved unanimously. The board also invited a photo for the record with department leaders at the meeting.
