Committee recommends approval of propane contract and LPG tank removal for bus fleet

The North Penn School District finance committee reviewed bids for the bus fleet’s liquid propane supply and for removal of an LPG tank at a district fueling station and voted to advance the recommended vendors to the board for action.

A staff presenter explained the bid package: the procurement covers next year’s propane supply for the district’s propane‑fueled buses and a separate bid to remove a tank at the fueling station. "We recommend the approval of the bid to for the tank removal and the LPG tank," a staff member said. Board members asked whether the contract price would change if the district added buses; staff replied that vendors normally honor the quoted per‑gallon cost regardless of fleet size.

The committee moved the item forward to the next meeting for action. Questions asked during the discussion included whether the unit cost would change if the district increased bus count and why the quoted per‑gallon cost appeared higher year over year. Staff noted the quoted price remains cheaper per gallon than comparable retail diesel or gasoline pump prices.
