Senator Stevens moved to approve the award; the motion was approved on a roll-call vote with 11 yeas and no nays. Chair Hannon announced the result after the roll call conducted by recording secretary Madison Truitt.
Legislative Affairs Agency procurement staff told the council the RFQ was issued April 4, was posted on the state's public notice system and distributed to vendors statewide. Eight bids were received; the low bid in the agency's abstract was Synergy Telecom Inc. at $110,070.71. The Legislative Affairs Agency recommended awarding the contract to Synergy after evaluation of bids. Procurement staff noted the council had met in executive session earlier to discuss procurement items so that vendor bid information would remain confidential until award.
JC Castle, Legislative Affairs Agency procurement officer, described the solicitation and recommendation. Chief Information Officer Shay Wilson attended to answer technical questions. No amendments to the motion were proposed on the floor.
The council's action awards the equipment contract; subsequent service and implementation tasks were discussed separately and may require additional contracts or service agreements.
