JC Castle, Legislative Affairs Agency procurement officer, told the council that RFQ683 was issued on April 4, drew eight bids and that Synergy Telecom was the low bidder. Chief Information Officer Shay Wilson explained the legislature had solicited bids to replace the phone equipment and that the Legislative Affairs Agency recommends awarding the contract to Synergy Telecom Incorporated. No amendments to the award were made.
Chair Hannon opened the vote after members heard the procurement briefing and the roll call recorded yes votes from Representative Kerrick, Speaker Edgmon, Representative Prox, Representative Schrage, Representative Stutes, Senator Klayman, Senator Giesel, Senator Grama Jackson, Senator Kiel, Vice Chair Stevens and Chair Hannon.
The contract award is intended to procure telephone equipment; further steps tied to services and migration to the legislature’s own Microsoft environment were discussed separately during the meeting.
