The Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board authorized step movement and a 3% salary increase for eligible nonrepresented employees for the 2025–26 contract year.
Superintendent Dr. Meinert explained nonrepresented employees do not have a collective bargaining agreement and therefore step movements and annual adjustments come to the board for approval. He said the 3% increase matches scheduled increases for principals and teachers next year and remains below the 4% increase approved for support staff.
Board members supported the move as an equity and retention measure. Miss Carol Hubbard asked which positions are included; Dr. Meinert said the group includes directors, coordinators, IT staff, human resources, student support services and other central office positions — roughly 70–80 nonrepresented employees in total.
The superintendent also said the increase was already baked into the district's recommended budget. The motion to approve step movement and the 3% increase passed by roll call.
