Commission sets Farmers Market Art Day for June 7; seeks volunteers

The Franklin Community Arts Commission announced that the Downtown Development Foundation (DDF) offered June 7 as the date for this year’s Farmers Market Art Day and asked commissioners to volunteer for setup and staffing shifts.
Commission staff said the commission needs two volunteers from 7 to 10 a.m. and two volunteers from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to assist with setup and run the activity. Staff noted some leftover materials — paint pens and a remaining bag of painted-rock supplies from prior events — and said a small budget is available for materials.
The commission reviewed previous Farmers Market activities (small canvases for children and painted rocks) and said those events drew both children and adults. “We went through, I'm wanting to say it was like about a 60 rocks,” a staff member said, noting that some painted rocks remain in the city’s supplies.
The programming committee will meet to finalize activities; volunteers were asked to check calendars and confirm availability. Commissioners also noted that the programming committee meets May 15 to plan the event.
No formal vote was required; the date was announced and staff was asked to coordinate volunteer sign-ups and finalize materials.
