The resolution, read on the record, recognized Reverend Dr. Gregory L. Clark’s leadership and credited the choir—conducted by Mike Mays—with advancing Birmingham’s reputation for gospel mass‑choir music. The resolution text cited the choir’s address at 1740 Cleburne Avenue SW in District 2, noted the choir roster is about 40 to 50 members, and referenced the choir’s status as one of five national finalists.
Glenie Dotson, president of the mass choir, accepted the resolution on behalf of the group and said the choir would continue to "sing to the glory of God." Reverend Clark told commissioners the church also runs community programs, including a senior citizen center funded in part by Jefferson County community development block grant (CDBG) funds and an assisted‑living program called Garden of Hope.
Commissioners publicly praised the choir’s community service and musical achievement. The choir came forward to receive the resolution; the reading and presentation occurred during a block of 45 resolutions the commission considered and moved as a group during the meeting.
