Committee recommends winery liquor license for WagonHound Wine Company

The Cheyenne Finance Committee on May 6 recommended City Council approve a winery liquor license application for WagonHound Wine LLC, doing business as WagonHound Wine Company, for a downtown location at 1610 Capitol Avenue.

City Clerk Kylie Soden told the committee the application had been reviewed by applicable city departments and the Wyoming Liquor Division and that the requirements for the license application had been met. That recommendation was followed by a brief public comment from the applicant.

Applicant and property owner Jackson Laborn, who identified himself as owner-operator of Wagon Alley Company and the address 1610 Capitol Avenue, said he expected the new business would “bring and add an element to Downtown Cheyenne that currently is missing” and serve as “a piece of the puzzle of creating a vibrant and successful downtown.”

Committee members asked practical questions about the site layout and entrances. Laborn described one public entrance and a back entrance that connects to an internal hallway but is not for public access. Councilman Esquivel asked whether the space is on the corner and about entry points; Laborn confirmed the configuration and noted the location in relation to Lincoln Way and an adjacent alley.

Council members moved and seconded the recommendation to approve; the motion was advanced to Monday’s City Council meeting with the committee’s endorsement.

Details recorded at the meeting show the item (6a) will be placed on the council agenda for formal approval. The applicant said, if approved, he targeted opening the first Saturday in June, assuming approvals and permitting proceed on schedule.
