Stacy Lynch was appointed local mental health director for Mariposa County and will be submitted to the state under Welfare and Institutions Code section 5607; the board also adopted a resolution honoring outgoing director Sheila Baker at her retirement after 16 years of county service.
The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors on May 6 voted unanimously to appoint Stacy Lynch as the county’s local mental health director and to adopt a resolution honoring outgoing director Sheila Baker, who retires after more than 16 years with the county.
Christina Cahill, director of Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), introduced the item and praised Baker’s “leadership, compassion and tireless commitment” to behavioral health services. Baker was recognized for expanding school‑based mental health, leading adult protective services pilot programs, implementing crisis services and helping plan CalAIM and other statewide initiatives. Baker addressed the board and thanked colleagues and community partners.
The board also heard brief remarks from County Administrative Officer Joe Lynch and local Behavioral Health Board Chair Paul Brickett, who noted Baker’s responsiveness during crises and her role in implementing programs such as crisis intervention and assisted outpatient treatment.
Before the vote, Stacy Lynch, a licensed clinical social worker who has worked in behavioral health and social services in Mariposa County, told the board she was honored to be considered and said she looked forward to strengthening partnerships, improving access to care and supporting the agency’s team.
The board adopted the appointment as requested and approved a retirement resolution at the meeting. The appointment will be submitted as required to the California Department of Health Care Services under Welfare and Institutions Code section 5607.
