The Inyo County Board of Supervisors reviewed the customary annual list of committee, commission and board appointments and approved the 2025 slate with a small amendment and a vote on Jan. 7.
Chair Marcelin presented recommendations that had been circulated in the agenda packet; staff said the chair consulted with committee leadership and agency executives while preparing the proposed assignments. Several supervisors thanked the chair for outreach during the drafting. During discussion, board members identified items that should be removed or revised: a non‑board appointment (the item referred to as the Inhumano advocates for community action) was noted as not appropriate for board appointment and agreed to be removed; another supervisor asked that the Hills Valley Groundwater Authority assignment be changed; one supervisor indicated they were stepping back from a particular board due to time constraints and asked for replacements if appropriate.
The nut graf: After clarifying which items are formal board appointments versus non‑board affiliations and confirming with committee contacts, the board amended the slate (removing the non-board item and changing the Hills Valley Groundwater Authority assignment) and approved the assignments by voice vote.
Board members noted the list will be revisited if organizational membership dues or committee structures change (one county membership—Western Counties Alliance—was discussed and staff said dues status for 2025 would be confirmed). The board directed clerks and staff to update the appointment roster to reflect the approved changes.
