At a meeting of the Law and Justice Legislative eMate Facilities Corner Committee, committee member Joe reported that Grundy County’s Emergency Management Agency discovered a mechanical failure in its command vehicle and ordered a replacement part as an emergency purchase.
The committee was told that on April 17 the command vehicle’s generator stopped working after the camshaft broke, and staff pursued an emergency purchase to repair it. Joe said the replacement part was picked up in Bolingbrook and that Morris Fire Department will perform the installation when available.
The report said the packet contains a memo with three different vendor quotes and cites the section of procurement rules that allows emergency action. The meeting record included two different reported purchase amounts: $7,008.96 and $7,896.99; the committee packet, the memo and the procurement section were referenced as the source for the emergency purchase but the meeting transcript did not reconcile those amounts.
Joe said the vehicle can still be used with a tethered unit on a truck but that is not always convenient. Committee members asked for the total cost to be repeated during the discussion; the report indicated installation was expected within a few days.
The committee approved EMA claims earlier in the meeting, which included the emergency purchase as part of the claims packet.
The county will proceed with installation when Morris Fire Department completes its scheduling; staff provided procurement documentation in the meeting packet for review.
