The DeKalb County Board on April 14 voted to appoint Rebecca Johnson to fill the District 12 seat vacated by Jerry Haslam; the appointment lasts through Nov. 30, 2026. The motion to appoint passed on a roll-call vote and the board administered the oath of office immediately after the vote.
Board members moved for appointment and carried the measure by roll call. After the vote, Johnson recited the oath of office: “I do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office,” per the recorded oath language.
The board also assigned Johnson to serve on standing committees including finance and planning, per the clerk’s announcement during the appointments portion of the agenda.
