The Beloit School District Policy Committee voted Wednesday to change its regular meeting time from 5:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the next meeting scheduled for June 4, 2025, at 4 p.m.
Committee members said the earlier time would respect members' schedules and make it easier for the public to attend. "It's important that we, of course, honor everybody's time," said Dr. Garrison, a committee member, during the discussion about shifting meeting hours.
Committee members noted that all three voting members present had indicated availability at 4:00 p.m. The motion to change the meeting time was moved and seconded on the record and carried by voice vote; the committee recorded one absence (Tom Hankins).
The committee chair asked administrative staff to update the committee's calendar and the policy document where the time is referenced. The committee's next regular meeting will be Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
The change affects only the Policy Committee schedule; the committee and staff said it is intended to preserve time for subsequent board meetings and other district obligations that evening.
No additional policy substance was decided as part of the timing change.
