Council grants special permit to expand Landon Chevrolet parking with condition to inspect infiltration system

The Woburn City Council on Aug. 19 granted a special permit to DCD R E 14 Harrison LLC to change the use of 14 Harrison Avenue to additional parking for Landon Chevrolet and related dealership operations, within the city's Groundwater Protection District.
Attorney Joseph Tabby and engineer Michael Page presented a revised site plan and discussed grading toward an existing catch basin and infiltration system the petitioner says was designed to handle additional impervious area. Mike Page of Griffin Engineering told the council the retaining wall will be under 3 feet and that no new site lighting or additional water/sewer connections are required.
Councilor D'Amambo sought and obtained a condition ensuring the infiltration system is inspected and cleaned before expanded parking is used. "The 5,000 square foot infiltration system shall be inspected and cleaned to ensure the added drainage from 14 Harrison Avenue is adequate," the council agreed. Tabby confirmed that language and the motion passed by voice vote.
Councilors also reviewed that the parcel is in the BV8 zoning district and that prior approvals for nearby 12 Harrison Avenue anticipated additional parking capacity. The council closed the public hearing and approved the special permit with the updated conditions.
