The Bear Valley Unified School District governing board approved three administrative appointments during the meeting, promoting district staff into principal roles.
The board voted to appoint Chrissy Cox as principal of Baldwin Lane Elementary. Superintendent Manny Marquez introduced Cox and noted her district service since 2016 and prior experience in multiple grade levels. The board approved the employment motion by voice vote; the chair announced “Aye. Unopposed.”
Dr. Cynthia Britt was appointed principal of North Shore Elementary. The superintendent said Dr. Britt joined the district in 2015 as a districtwide psychologist and became assistant principal at Big Bear High School in 2022. The board approved her appointment by voice vote.
The board also approved Dr. Francisco as principal of Big Bear Middle School for the 2025–26 school year. The superintendent summarized Dr. Francisco’s 21 years of middle‑school teaching experience and her doctoral research on academic achievement during middle‑school transition.
Superintendent Marquez and board members framed the hires as internal promotions intended to maintain continuity and noted plans to post and fill the assistant principal vacancies created by the moves. The superintendent said the district will advertise the assistant principal positions immediately.
