Norwalk commission approves minutes and personnel items including tuition reimbursement, stipend and probationary appointment

At its April 21 meeting the Norwalk Board of Police Commissioners approved routine minutes and several personnel actions, including tuition reimbursement, a contractual stipend and a probationary appointment.
The commission voted to approve the minutes of its March 17, 2025 meeting by voice vote. Later the board voted to go into executive session for a candidate review; commissioners stated that during the executive session no motions were made and no votes were taken.
On personnel matters the commission approved a tuition reimbursement request for Sergeant Nathaniel Polino. The department said Polino sought reimbursement for six credits toward a bachelor’s program in cyber threat intelligence and financial crime investigations at a New Haven university; total course cost cited was $9,120 and Polino requested half, $4,560. The commission voted to approve the $4,560 reimbursement.
The board also approved adding the contractual master’s-degree stipend to Officer Elisi’s yearly pay after the department presented a copy of the diploma confirming completion of a Master of Public Administration from Sacred Heart University.
Finally, the commission approved a probationary appointment for Officer Boa (start date referenced in discussion as May 8) as a Norwalk Police Department probationary officer; commissioners welcomed the officer when the motion passed.
Motions at the meeting were made from the floor by commissioners and approved by voice vote; the meeting record shows each motion carried with all commissioners saying “Aye.” No roll-call tallies by name were recorded in the public portion of the transcript.
Other procedural items included a confirmation that no disciplinary votes or personnel terminations were taken in executive session.
