Springdale council approves summer meeting schedule, cancels July 16 and Aug. 6 meetings

Springdale City Council on May 7 approved a summer meeting schedule that cancels the July 16 and Aug. 6 regular meetings and moves full committee business to the council meeting on July 2 and the August 20 meeting.
Administration informed council that planned renovations to council chambers — including new carpet, painting, LED lighting and ceiling repairs that require scaffolding — make the second July meeting impractical. City Administrator Yule told council a contractor advised that a mid‑July timeline was too tight to complete the work.
Councilmember Vanover said he had no objection provided administration could manage any time‑sensitive items. Council voted by affirmation to cancel the two meetings and asked administration to notify affected boards and committee chairs. Council also asked staff to coordinate with Planning Commission and other bodies that traditionally meet during the second week of the month to find alternate locations or postpone as necessary.
The administration said it will contact affected boards, including those with standing meetings, to coordinate scheduling and suggested the Mayor's courtroom as an alternative meeting location if needed.
