Residents urge commissioners to stop fighting judge’s order on Brookcliffe solar project

Two residents used the public comment period at the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners meeting to urge the board to allow the Brookcliffe solar project to proceed in light of a judicial order.
Stuart Sloan, who identified himself as living on New Prospect Church Road, told the board he has attended three meetings in a row to press the point that the Brookcliffe solar project will benefit landowners and provide revenue for the county. “I would urge that you please cease the fight against the judge's order, to allow this thing to go through,” Sloan said.
Donna Wallace, who gave her address as Sperling Road, said she and other neighbors hope the county and project proponents can reach a resolution. Wallace said she relocated because of the dispute and described the process as difficult for residents. Her remarks reiterated a request that the board find a practical way to resolve outstanding issues so residents and developers can move forward.
No formal board action on the project was taken during the meeting; the speakers’ remarks were entered during the public comment portion and the board acknowledged receipt of the comments.
