The finance committee recommended approval of a resolution recognizing the North Penn Cheer Association under the district’s interpretation of the Small Games of Chance Act.
Mr. Linderman explained the treasurer’s office had been using an interpretation of the Small Games of Chance Act that requires organizations whose small-game activities benefit the district to be formally recognized as such. "This is not the board or the district taking ownership of the organization," Linderman said; "it's merely recognizing that they are an organization whose activities benefit the district."
Mrs. Summers (questioning) asked why the board needed to take action if the booster club is technically a separate entity. Linderman and other board members explained the recognition is a standard administrative step used previously at other districts. A motion to move the resolution forward to the full agenda was made by Mr. Resch, seconded by Mr. Fusco, and carried.
