Staff explained the city lacks currently certified staff to perform elevation certificates and floodplain reviews and has been contracting those services to outside engineers; the amendment will allow SafeBuilt to perform the services under the existing inspection contract, which staff said should be less costly than sending each matter to an engineer. Staff noted the city previously had staff that provided those reviews (Justin French was mentioned as a former in-house reviewer) but that current staffing does not include a certified reviewer. The consent resolution authorizing the city manager to sign the amendment was approved on the consent agenda with no recorded opposition.
Next steps: The city manager is authorized to execute the amendment and SafeBuilt may begin providing elevation certificates and floodplain plan reviews and site visits under the terms of the amended professional services agreement.
