City schedules hearings for two local businesses seeking on‑premises alcohol licenses

Villa Rica staff informed the Mayor and Council on May 6 that two businesses—San Andreas Villa Rica LLC and Kwik Trip Corporation—have applied for local alcoholic beverage licenses and that both applications will be the subject of public hearings next Tuesday.
Whitney Cox, licensing staff, reported the first application is from San Andreas Villa Rica LLC at 103 Villa Rica Parkway, Suite 200. The applicant is operating a new Mexican restaurant in a shopping center and seeks a pouring license for malt beverages, wine and distilled spirits. Cox said the business currently holds a valid city business license and has applied to the state; the state is awaiting proof of the local license before issuing a state license.
The second application is for Kwik Trip Corporation at 650 Highway 61, an existing convenience store and gas station. Cox said Kwik Trip currently holds a valid business and alcohol license and is seeking approval to change the local agent/manager on the license; that management‑change application will also be heard next Tuesday.
Council took no final licensing votes at the work session; both items were placed on the consent agenda and scheduled for a public hearing on the council’s Tuesday meeting. Staff noted state licensing procedures require local approval before a state pouring license will be finalized for San Andreas.
No public comment on the liquor applications was recorded during the May 6 work session.
