Supervisors set minimum bid of $42,500 for sale of county engineers building; public hearing May 20

The Page County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution setting a minimum sealed bid of $42,500 for the sale of the county engineer's building and scheduled a related public hearing for May 20.

Staff circulated a valuation estimate prepared by Jason (staff member), which suggested a value of about $52,140; the board debated whether to set the minimum closer to $40,000 or higher before settling on $42,500. "We'll see how how it goes," one supervisor said after the board agreed on the minimum. The motion to set the minimum bid at $42,500 was put to voice vote and carried with affirmative responses from the board.

The resolution requires sealed bids to be submitted to the auditor's office by 1 p.m. on May 20, and the board will hold the public hearing at its May 20 meeting and then consider the bids at the subsequent meeting, consistent with the published notice and sealed‑bid process. Staff clarified the sale will be by quitclaim deed; the county is selling the building "as is" and will not update the abstract of title. The auditor will publish required notices; staff warned that rebidding with a new minimum would incur additional publication costs.

Staff also said interested parties can tour the property before bids are submitted and that the county will post photos and listing details on its website. The board gave staff direction to finalize the resolution and publish the public notice for the May 14 newspaper publication date.
