The Public Works and Highway Committee approved a $36,000 change order to RA Smith for High Point Pass design services.
Staff said the additional work resulted from a needed realignment of the sanitary sewer after initial elevations proved insufficient for the originally planned route. The village negotiated an easement through an MLG parcel to accommodate the deeper alignment. “The elevations weren’t working right, so we had to coordinate an easement through the MLG property,” the staff member said. The presenter added that the change order document details the additional work performed “that was above and beyond the original scope.”
Staff said the work is TID-funded (primarily TID 8) and related to the village’s development agreement with Truck Country, which requires sewer and water to a specified location by August under the agreement. The presenter said much of the change-order work has already been completed and that a portion of storm-sewer adjustments remains outstanding.
A committee member asked whether the realignment is outside public right-of-way; staff confirmed it requires easements. The committee moved, seconded and approved the change order by voice vote.
Staff noted the change order arose after the original allowance on the project had been exhausted and that the village is reviewing how future proposals are evaluated against high- and low-end estimates.
