Resident urges Elgin council to support churches feeding residents amid food-supply concerns

"If you are not involved somewhere in a congregation that is helping to provide the food, we suggest — I'd invite you to find one," Horik said. He specifically mentioned Saint Peter’s as welcoming volunteers and asked council members to consider how the city might help ensure marginalized people continue to receive assistance.
Horik framed his remarks as an appeal for civic action and volunteerism; no formal council action on the subject was taken during the meeting. Other speakers later in the meeting recognized local volunteers and staff for community service.
