Mentor City Council on May 6 approved a contract to replace the heating and air-conditioning system at the recreation center soccer complex, accepting a $269,707 bid from Royal Heating and Air Conditioning Service Company.
Mister Vernon, presenting for the city, said one bid was received on April 25 and that Royal’s proposal satisfied contractual requirements and that Royal has completed successful projects for the city previously. In response to a council question about an existing large heater, Vernon confirmed the old unit will be removed and the replacement will provide more usable space.
Council approved the ordinance by roll call.
Why it matters: the replacement modernizes mechanical systems at a public facility used for recreation and youth sports and will improve building layout once the large older heater is removed.
