Staff said the bid package covered resurfacing work on portions of 20 city streets and included a base bid plus three alternates; quantities under alternate 1 will be used for Mentor-on-the-Lake and total about $60,000. The engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost was $1,177,000, and bids ranged from $1,040,223 to $1,190,022.30.
A public works presenter identified as Staff member Swigger told council the lowest bid was in conformance with contract requirements and recommended awarding the contract to Phillips Paving. Council approved the ordinance by roll call.
City staff later told council the overall road program funding for the year is approximately $8,000,000, a figure noted during follow-up questions about road spending.
