Nashville council approves three annexations including county middle school and 7.5-acre Highway 64 parcel

The Town of Nashville council on May 6 opened public hearings and approved annexation ordinances for three separate properties, including the Nash County Board of Education’s middle school at 1638 South First Street, a 4.76-acre parcel owned by 3MR Limited Partnership, and a 7.5-acre parcel submitted by Nashville Development LLC on U.S. Highway 64.

Council members opened a public hearing on the middle-school annexation after staff said the town received an application in November 2024. Town staff told the council the application covered 28.63 acres and that the council had previously adopted resolutions on sufficiency and scheduling. The council voted to adopt the ordinance on the annexation; the town attorney noted a signature formatting issue in the application, saying, “the owner's signature is not in the table,” and staff later confirmed the owner had signed the affidavit at the bottom of the document.

A separate application from 3MR Limited Partnership covered a 4.76-acre lot adjacent to the town’s Fire Station No. 2 on the town’s east side. Notices were published and mailed as required. The town attorney again pointed out that the owner’s signature was missing from the signature table; the council approved the annexation ordinance with the explicit condition that the owner’s signature be secured and the paperwork corrected before final filing.

The council also considered a 7.5-acre annexation application filed by Nashville Development LLC for property along U.S. Highway 64. Staff said notices were mailed to adjoining property owners and published in the Nashville Graphic; a council member asked that the list of recipient addresses be added to the record. The council moved to approve the ordinance conditioned on including the names of notified property owners in the meeting record.

All three items followed the same sequence: staff presentation, public hearing (no speakers registered against the proposals), a council motion, and a vote to approve. For the 3MR annexation, the council specifically tied approval to correcting the missing owner signature. For the Highway 64 filing, council asked staff to attach the mailing list to the minutes for transparency.

Council actions were procedural approvals of annexation ordinances and did not include detailed statements about subsequent zoning changes, development approvals, or implementation timelines within the meeting record. Staff was directed to finalize missing paperwork (owner signature, mailing-list documentation) and to place the corrected documents in the municipal record.
