The Amherst County Service Authority on May 6 adopted commemorative resolution ACSA 2025-CR-01 honoring John Daniel Stevens on his retirement after 30 years with the authority.
The resolution states Stevens joined the service authority May 1, 1995, advanced from senior utility mechanic to utility crew leader and is retiring April 30, 2025. It credits Stevens with leading and participating in water and wastewater repairs, line extensions and after-hours infrastructure work. The board adopted the resolution by voice vote; board members said "aye." "On behalf of Amherst County Service Authority and the citizens of Amherst County, the board of directors . . . expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Mr. John Daniel Stevens for his exceptional service," the resolution reads.
Stevens accepted a framed, signed version of the commemorative resolution and told the board, "Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate y'all all the hard work over the years." The board also presented a ten-year service award to Melissa Morfield; executive staff praised her contributions and asked Morfield to come forward to receive the citation.
The resolution will be finalized in signed form and presented to Stevens; the minutes and framed citation serve as the authority's official recognition of his retirement and service.
