The board approved several purchases for utilities and public safety: a contract with HBK Water Meter Services Inc. to test and repair large commercial and residential water meters not to exceed $38,500; purchase of large commercial water meter registers from Core & Main LP not to exceed $39,430; and acquisition of 75 Glock Generation 5 9mm handguns with MOS red dot sights from Keesler Police Supply Company totaling $42,748.25. The board also approved the purchase of 2025 Ford Utility Interceptors from Curry Motors Fleet for $149,703 (per the staff recommendation as authorized under village code Section 5‑8‑14(l)).
Other consent items included professional services to Western Illinois University for $40,000 and a project award conditioned on contract language and code references cited during the meeting. The clerk read a series of zoning and ordinance items on the consent agenda, including special-use permits for vehicle sales and outdoor storage (M and T Truck Sales, 344 Saint Paul Boulevard) and training facility approvals (First Student, 220 Westgate Drive), and several ordinances amending raffle and sound-amplifier rules.
Village Manager Omer reported that DuComm launched text‑to‑911 service last month for residents whose carriers support the feature, and reminded the public that the 988 suicide and crisis lifeline is available for crisis assistance. He also said the village’s social services unit will conduct outreach to people experiencing homelessness in the village this month.
The omnibus motion to place the consent items on the agenda and the omnibus vote to approve them passed by roll call with recorded ayes from trustees present.
