Benton County supervisors approved multiple personnel hires during the May 20 session, filling vacancies in the sheriff27s office and county kitchen.
The board approved Resolution 25-34 to hire Aaron Kronke as a full-time correctional officer to replace a position vacated in January. County staff reported backgrounds and interviews were complete and recommended the hire; Kronke was described as living in Vinton and currently employed at an outside jail.
Supervisors also approved hiring a part-time cook/custodian (Terry Allen) to support the jail kitchen and reduce overtime; the position starts at the union starting wage for part-time employees listed in the packet ($19.51 per hour) and has a tentative start date in mid-May.
In addition, the board approved adding a reserve/utility deputy (Johnnie Blanchett) to the pool of PRN deputies; the position will be non-scheduled, on-call, and training (including weapons certification) will precede active duty. The proposed starting wage for utility deputies was noted as $28.32 per hour (nonunion).
All hires were approved by motion and vote; the board asked staff to complete onboarding steps and certify that pre-employment checks and training were complete before officers or staff begin their duties.
