The Village Board on April 28 authorized an agreement with Sikich LLP to provide independent audit services for the village following the conclusion of Sikich’s current engagement on April 30, 2025.
Staff said the village issued a request for proposals (RFP) in March seeking auditors for fiscal years ending April 30, 2025–2029 with optional extensions to 2030 and 2031. Although staff solicited proposals from six firms, only Sikich submitted a bid by the deadline. Staff recommended acceptance of Sikich’s proposal, which included retaining the same audit team and a fee schedule with annual increases reported in the meeting record at approximately 4.4% to 4.6% per year.
Trustees discussed that limited bidder response is a common procurement challenge for small municipalities; staff noted other firms declined because of limited staff capacity and timing around April 30 year‑end work. Trustees agreed the quoted annual increases were not excessive in the local context and approved the resolution by roll call.
The board approved the contract authorization by roll-call vote; staff said the engagement term covers the fiscal years listed with optional extensions per the RFP. No specific contract amount was read into the public record beyond the percent increase ranges cited.
