Harrington Pepsi to fund new interactive scores table at Butte Civic Center; county to approve agreement

Bill Melvin, Civic Center manager, asked the council to approve an agreement with Harrington Pepsi Bottling Co. to purchase and install a new interactive digital scores table at the Butte Civic Center.
Melvin said the current scores tables are 25 years old and described the new unit as an ‘‘interactive’’ reader board that can display advertising and event information. Harrington Pepsi will pay about $35,000 for the equipment and receive preferred advertising and pour designation; Melvin said the Civic Center will continue to sell other beverage products as before.
Commissioner Shea moved to concur and place the communication on file; the council voted 10–0 to concur. Melvin said the upgrade, together with planned new flooring and scoreboard work, will present the Civic Center as a modern venue for upcoming events, including the Frontier Conference tournament.
The agreement was approved for signature by the chief executive; commissioners noted Harrington Pepsi’s history of prior support for the Civic Center, including past donations and concession partnerships.
