The council discussed the mechanics of assignment pay, how the expense would be allocated between drainage and facilities funds, and built‑in safeguards to avoid overloading the employee’s regular duties.
Councilmembers said they supported the creative approach as a cost‑saving measure but asked staff to monitor workload and to return to the council if the temporary arrangement proved insufficient. Staff said the arrangement could be adjusted in upcoming budget cycles or amended mid‑year if needed.
