"This plan...is the GPS coordinates for this council," the mayor said.
The mayor provided population and area figures while urging unity in advancing the plan: he said Geneva comprises "nearly 22,000 residents and 1,200 plus businesses" and described the city as covering "approximately 10 square miles." He asked council members and the public to "bring at the very least a dose of joy to our work" and called for deliberate, collaborative progress on the plan’s goals.
The remarks closed with the mayor noting this is the first day of his 25th year in office and expressing gratitude to family and community members. No formal action was taken on the plan at the meeting; the remarks were delivered as part of new-business comments from the dais.
