Rosemount council appoints Youth Commission members for 2025–26

At its May 6 meeting, the Rosemount City Council appointed a slate of young residents to the city’s Youth Commission for the 2025–26 term.

Mayor Jeffrey D. Wiesensel read the list of appointed students and the council moved and approved the appointments by roll call. Councilmember Klimpel moved the appointment motion and Councilmember Kresge seconded; the roll call recorded yes votes from Kresge, Tyson, Klimpel and Wiesensel, and the appointments were adopted 4–0.

The council named the following appointees as presented at the meeting: Eden Carter; Hannah Decker; Haley Geller; Genesis Geary; Cindy Harvey; Olivia Howie; Anushka Jacob; Autumn Jacobson; Rebecca John; Aiden Johnson; Cara Mason; Lily Nolan; Rachel Raimondo; Adelis Jade Sayapelle; Alexis Selle; Jacob Sakari; and Ava Olstad. The council noted several returning members and said the commission will engage in community activities such as the legacy tree planting and participation in summer events.

Discussion recorded in the meeting described the Youth Commission as an opportunity for students to plan and participate in community activities, deliver outreach at local events such as the expo and splash pad, and to gain leadership experience; no budget or separate policy action was taken at the meeting beyond the appointments.

Background: the Youth Commission is a standing advisory/engagement body composed of student volunteers; the council indicated this group will support community programming and mentor incoming members through joint activities later in May.
