The Lenawee County Probate & Juvenile Court took a status conference on the guardianship of Jessica Rogers under advisement after court staff found no participant present to confirm a local guardian; the judge said the court will seek verification of a guardianship filed in Florida before deciding whether to close the matter.
The judge noted the docket indicated a guardianship matter had been done in Florida and that the court would contact the judge in Florida to verify the information if necessary. "It does look like there was a guardianship matter done in Florida, which is what the court will be looking for in order to discharge the guardians in Michigan," the judge said. Because no local participant appeared, the court said it would review the file and either re-notice the matter or close it based on the verification report.
The judge took the matter under advisement and indicated a future action would depend on whether the Florida court’s records support discharge of the Michigan guardianship.
