The Moraine Merit Commission on May 7 certified the full-time firefighter entry-level candidate list and authorized release of the names for appointment processes.
Fire division staff told the commission the top candidates in the packet had been interviewed and scored; a few candidates lower on the list did not qualify. Staff said nine candidates qualified and the commission voted to release all names on the certified list.
A staff member said, “The ones at the top of the list are, we've already interviewed them and gave them a score.” Commissioners moved to certify and release the list; the roll call recorded affirmative votes from the commissioners present.
The certification allows the fire division and human resources to proceed with backgrounds, offers and any further steps required by the merit rules. No hires or appointments were finalized at the meeting.
