The Vinita City Council voted May 6 to accept the city—s fiscal year 2023–24 audit; city staff said the audit showed no deficiencies and was essential for applying for large grants.
City Administrator Mr. Prince told the council the audit was delivered in time to support a Community Development Block Grant application for the wastewater plant and that staff found no deficiencies on the cash modified basis audit. “This is a requirement for us to be able to apply for large grants, large loans that might be necessary,” Prince said. He thanked the audit firm for meeting the deadline.
Prince said the administration has made audits available on the city website, going back through 2014, and urged council members to recognize the role timely audits play in accessing state and federal funding. The council moved and seconded to accept the audit; the motion passed with no recorded opposition.
Councilors noted the audit—s role in the city—s ongoing capital projects and grant applications and said they will continue to hold contractors accountable for timely delivery of required audits.
