Committee approves Anderson Electric proposal to replace fuse switches at 200 West Front Street; facilities inspections pass and Fairview demo progress noted

The McLean County Property Committee approved a proposal from Anderson Electric to replace fuse switches in the 200 West Front Street building and received a facilities report saying building fire suppression and alarm systems have been inspected and are back online.

The motion to place the Anderson Electric proposal on the floor was made by Member Duffy, seconded by Member Layman, and approved by voice vote. Facilities staff said two contractors attended the pre-bid and Anderson Electric was the most responsive bidder to the request for proposals.

Facilities representative Mr. Gaither told the committee the original fuse switches are original to the health department building and are nearing failure despite maintenance; replacing them will allow staff to guarantee they can shut off and turn on power as needed. Mr. Gaither deferred technical details to another staff member identified as Scott, who has been handling the project with contractors.

In the facilities monthly report, Mr. Gaither said the county’s inspected fire suppression systems, alarms and fire extinguishers “all passed and [are] back online.” Member Layman thanked facilities staff for photos showing interior demolition progress at the Fairview Building and praised the coordination to advance that project.

The committee recorded no further action on the Fairview Building beyond the update; the Anderson Electric proposal was the formal procurement action taken during the facilities items.
