Court services to contract with Center for Human Services for peer support specialist under swift, certain, fair grant

The McLean County Justice Committee approved May 7 an agreement with the Center for Human Services to provide a peer support specialist for a new emerging‑adult component of the Swift, Certain, and Fair grant.
Court Services Director Suzanne Montoya told the committee the office earlier received a subrecipient award under the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC) Swift, Certain, and Fair grant and is contracting with the Center for Human Services to place a peer support specialist who will work with emerging adults, roughly ages 18–25. Montoya said the county has previously used peer support specialists from Chestnut Health Systems in problem‑solving courts and has had “excellent” results.
The committee voted on a motion by Member Hansen, seconded by Member Ziebart, to approve the agreement. The chair announced the motion approved.
Montoya said the peer support role is intended to increase relatability for clients and improve outcomes in the court’s problem‑solving services. She asked committee members whether they had questions; none were raised.
