A committee member said she emailed Lisa Conley (volunteer coordinator) and CC'd Algonquin principal Sean Bevan and reported receiving a positive initial reply; she recommended clarifying the committee’s needs before responding. The committee discussed recruiting students from the drama club for cemetery reenactments, DECA or marketing students for fundraising, and vocational students for hands-on tasks such as set construction and carpentry. One member suggested contacting Aspen Valley because “they have the woodworking shop or the metal fab shop,” and that some vocational programs could integrate event work into coursework.
The committee proposed matching students’ skills with volunteer roles and noted scheduling constraints as the school year ends soon. The committee agreed to follow up in writing with school contacts to document expectations and any credit or hour arrangements so changes in personnel do not derail the plan. The committee also suggested pairing students with adult volunteers for supervision during parade-day tasks.
