County agrees to cost-share mag-chloride application with Daggett County on State Line Road and others

Sweetwater County commissioners approved an interlocal memorandum of understanding with Daggett County, Utah, on May 6 to cost-share certain road maintenance tasks along the State Line Road corridor and other county roads.
Public-works Director Jean Legurski said Daggett County has historically assisted with plowing and blade work on remote roads. Under the MOU the county would purchase two loads of magnesium chloride (mag) for State Line Road while Daggett County would perform preparatory blading and blade work; Legurski estimated the two mag loads would cost about $7,000 using current pricing and said the county’s larger dust-control CMAQ program is budgeted at roughly $700,000 this year.
Legurski said the MOU aims to preserve access for Wyoming residents who rely on State Line Road and to formalize a cooperative arrangement with Daggett County for remote segments of McKinnon Road and Browns Park Road. Commissioners authorized the chairman to sign the agreement.
Ending: The MOU will let the county leverage contractor work already scheduled for nearby dust-control projects and formalize periodic mutual assistance with Daggett County.
