County accepts perpetual BLM right-of-way for portion of JY Road (County Road 808)

Public-works Director Jean Legurski said the county has been working to secure perpetual BLM rights-of-way for checkerboard parcels along county roads so the county need not repeatedly renew grants. The BLM instrument included a federal-style termination clause; Legurski noted the grant is described as perpetual but, for legal formality, the instrument terminates on Dec. 31, 3999.
The board authorized the chairman to sign the grant offer. Legurski characterized the agreement as a long-term solution that removes the need for repeated renewals on BLM-controlled checkerboard parcels.
Ending: Director Legurski said staff will continue to pursue similar perpetual instruments for other county roads on checkerboard federal lands.
