The Village of Wheeling approved a consent-agenda item authorizing the village manager to complete the purchase of a 2012 Pierce Velocity Resource Squad from the Spencerport Fire Department in New York for an amount not to exceed $450,000.
The resolution waived competitive bidding and authorized staff to take all actions needed to finalize the acquisition. Trustees approved the consent agenda by roll call; the purchase was included among routine items approved without separate discussion.
Trustee comments during the meeting noted the purchase would save the village “well over half a million dollars” compared with the cost of a new comparable vehicle, allowing funds to be used for other equipment needs if the bid is accepted and the purchase goes forward.
