Council tables legal committee dissolution after public pushback, approves Parks & Rec board changes

Public commenters including former committee members and residents urged the council not to dissolve the legal committee, describing it as a long-standing, volunteer advisory body that provides oversight, monitors litigation and reviews legal-budget matters. Art Mertes, who said he has served on the legal committee since 2022, and resident Susan Garrett both told the council the committee was not consulted before the proposal to dissolve it and asked that council reconsider.
